Wilier Launches New Range of Carbon Wheelsets

Wilier has announced the launch of a new range of carbon fiber wheelsets developed in collaboration with the fellow Italian brand Miche.

According to Wilier, three wheelsets called the AIR50 KC, ULT38 KT and the NDR38 KC will be initially introduced, the first of the two purely for road, while the last is aimed squarely at the endurance segment.

The AIR50 KC features a 50mm profile rim with internal and external widths of 19mm and 26mm, which is tubeless ready and is designed around disc brakes. Moreover, the wheelset comprises 7075 aluminum alloy hubs, Ezo bearings, Sapim spokes and relies on 12mm thru axles – with a claimed weight of 1,600g.

At 37.9mm deep and 24.2mm wide, the ULT38 KT represents Wilier’s lightweight tubular wheel option, which again is designed for disc brakes and features the same 7075 aluminum alloy hubs and 12mm thru-axles.

However, the 1,390g wheelset gets the addition of CeramicSpeed bearings.

As mentioned, the NDR38 KC tubeless ready clincher wheelset is aimed at the adventure cyclist, highlighted by a 38mm profile rim that has an internal width of 17mm and an external width of 23.98mm that can accommodate tires up to 24mm, while 12mm thru-axles and 6061 aluminum alloy hubs with stainless steel bearings complete the wheels.

Wilier says, the new wheelsets will first be introduced on its range of complete bikes before being released separately.

Pricing for the US has yet to be announced, but here are some prices for the European market.

  • ULT38 KT €2,400
  • AIR50KC €1,600
  • NDR38KC €1,300
