Women’s Tour of California 2016 Stage 4

Kirsten Wild (Hitec Products) claimed the fourth and final stage of Women’s Tour of California in Sacramento today, after holding off Lisa Brennauer (Canyon-SRAM) and yesterday’s stage winner,  Marianne Vos (Rabo-Liv), in a sprint finish by a clear bike length.  

Meanwhile, race leader Megan Guarnier (Boels Dolmans) secured the overall title, after extending her lead by taking the maximum time bonus points during the intermediate sprint, and later finishing safely in the peloton – to beat Kristin Armstrong (Twenty 16 – Ridebiker) by 17 seconds, followed by Evelyn Stevens in third place at 28 seconds back.

As result of her victory, Guarnier wrested the lead in UCI Women’s WorldTour classification from her teammate and world champion, Lizzie Armitstead, who was not present at this year’s Amgen Tour of California.
