Zipp 202 and 303 Firecrest Disc-brake Feature Versatile New Hubset
After much anticipation, Zipp announced today, the launch of its new 202 and 303 disc-brake dedicated wheelsets.

Zipp’s category-defining lineup of Firecrest® Disc-brake wheelsets is now even better thanks to improvements at the center of the wheel. All Zipp® 202 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Disc-brake and 303 Firecrest Carbon Clincher and 303 Firecrest Tubular Disc-brake wheelsets utilize the new Zipp 77/177D hubset. The result is improved stiffness, durability, simplicity and versatility:
About the 77/177D hubset:
• Bearing preload precision set – that means no pre-load adjustment is needed.
• Improved bearing protection and sealant. • Includes newly designed quick-release skewers with a wider more ergonomic handle to provide more leverage for opening and closing. When closed, lever contours neatly with the frame. • Thru-axle compatible. Comes with thru-axle end caps that can be swapped by hand: - Front: 12x100mm & 15x100mm - Rear: 12x135mm & 12x142mm
• Proprietary flange geometry and spoke hole attachment pattern with Sapim® CX-Ray® spokes to optimize torsional and lateral stiffness without sacrificing weight or robustness.
• New distinctive hub graphics.

About the 202 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Disc-brake
The 202 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Disc-brake is a light but strong Speed Weapon perfect for the dawning era of disc-road bikes. Its 32mm deep rim has a max width of 25.4mm make this wheelset with serious aero performance and crosswind stability, all with the performance of disc braking and the benefits of the new 77/177D hubset. To exceed the demands of gravel and adventure road riding, the wheelset is laced using Sapim® brass nipples for increased stiffness and durability in all conditions.
About the 303 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Disc-brake and 303 Firecrest Tubular Disc-brake
The 303 Firecrest Disc-brake – with a rim depth of 45mm and max-width of 28.5 – provides unmatched speed, stability and durability with the confidence-inspiring performance of disc-braking. Available in Carbon Clincher or Tubular, each wheelset is 35 grams lighter than before. Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) and the Giant Factory Off-Road Team raced Zipp 303 Firecrest Tubular Disc-brake wheels with new 77/177D hubset to great success this season, including Power’s 2015 U.S. national championship victory.
Zipp looks at wheel production as a unified process of design, manufacturing and testing, all under one roof in Indianapolis. Process improvements and efficiencies allow us to offer the 202 and 303 Firecrest Disc-brake wheelsets at new suggested prices.
