Zipp Relaunches Its Iconic 202 Wheelset

Apparently, not everything in the wheel segment these days is purely about aero-gains, now that Zipp has relaunched its iconic 202 wheelset, new hoops that are designed to maximize climbing efficiency rather than just beating the clock.

Now dubbed the 202 NSW, the revamped disc brake wheelset features a hookless design that’s now significantly wider, both internally and (23mm) and externally (35mm), that’s optimized for tires ranging from 28mm to 32mm, while things spin on J-bend stainless steel spokes and Zipp’s ZR1 SL hubs.

However, the tech behind the 202 NSW is more than just skin deep, which utilizes Zipp’s “Biomimetic Laminate” construction, comprising a complex lay-up process that involves no fewer than 50 separate sections of carbon fiber.

The result is a wheelset that tips the scales at a feathery sub-1,100 grams, an impressive feat that will surely win plaudits from the weight weenies crowd.

The 202 NSW wheelset sells for a hefty $4,200.00, which is compatible with Shimano and SRAM free hub bodies, along with a generous weight limited of 235 pounds.
