2014 Litespeed L1R and L1 Road Bikes

For a company synonymous with the manufacturing of "metal" bikes since the mid-80’s, Litespeed enters into the foray of carbon road bikes with it’s new L1R and L1 models.

While we haven’t had the opportunity to see them in the "flesh", they look as performance oriented as all get out! Particularly, the unmistakable beefy fuselage and massive bottom bracket area on both bikes.

About

This year, we are proud to introduce the L-Series; refined, all-around road-racers with multiple asymmetric and shape- specific design features. Over four years in development, the L-Series arrives with a state-of-the-art feature set including bb 386 technology — a wide-bearing bb 30 system co-developed with FSa, bH, and Wilier — a Zero-Stack headset system and the barely uci-legal 1.125" x 1.5" tapered steerer fork, plus an overall attention to detail simply not available on other comparable pro-grade bikes. These features are made possible by advances in process and material technology, of course, but also as a result of our years of extensive ride-tuning experience and historic dedication to utilizing every possible material advantage.

Ready to rock for 2014, the L-Series — recently granted full UCI approval — features a multi-shaped tube set incorporating Continuous Cross-Sectional Morphology throughout as well as Litespeed’s Quadrilateral System to manage simultaneous torsional-frontal and lateral-load input from both road and rider. Asymmetric down tube design allows for balanced, efficient drive-train energy transfer.

L1R Frameset Overview

The L-series flagship, the Litespeed L1R, is made with an industry-leading 60T carbon and is fully UCI-approved to start winning races. An all-around competitor with multiple asymmetric and shape-specific design features using Litespeed’s own Continuous Cross-Sectional Morphology, this frameset was four years in development – and it shows.

Litespeed’s Quadrilateral System manages simultaneous torsional-frontal and lateral-load input from both road and rider. Asymmetric down tube/seat tube junction allows for efficient drivetrain energy transfer. Other state-of-the-art features and technology are incorporated including BB 386 bottom bracket, 1.125" x 1.5" tapered steerer fork, and Zero-Stack headset system. Thanks to advances in process and material technology, as well as our years of extensive ride-tuning experience and historic dedication to utilizing every possible material advantage, the L1R is ready to rock the roads in 2014. Sold as complete build or as frameset. How will you build your ultimate race machine?

L1 Frameset Introduction

Loaded with industry-leading frame and material knowledge, the Litespeed L1 is ready to perform right out of the box. The race-ready Shimano/Zipp/Easton component mix combines with Litespeed’s premier process technology and historic ride-tuning to create a finely tuned, all-around racer. It took four years to nail the L1’s multiple asymmetric and shape-specific design using Litespeed’s own Continuous Cross-Sectional Morphology and incorporate state-of-the-art features including BB 386 bottom bracket, 1.125" x 1.5" tapered steerer fork, and Zero-Stack headset system. Litespeed’s Quadrilateral System manages simultaneous torsional-frontal and lateral-load input from both road and rider, while asymmetric down tube/seat tube junction allows for efficient drivetrain energy transfer. Recently granted UCI- approval, the L1 is proof that you shouldn’t rush perfection.
