While we may be physically located continents apart, we’re not spiritually when it comes to admiring Dániel Merényi’s custom frames.
For more than four years, the Hungarian framebuilder apprenticed under the "Magus" of metal himself- Dario Pegoretti. Not surprisingly, Dániel has unveiled two new framesets that are synonymous with his "master’s" preference for TIG welding. Behold, the new Gagliarda and Toccata Superleggera framesets, which will be unveiled today at this year’s Bespoked UK Handmade Bicycle Show.
The new Gagliarda features Columbus Zona tubing, and it can be custom built to the client’s wishes whether it be for track, touring, cyclocross, commuter, road or single speed, a long with a choice of either a carbon fiber or steel fork. And, as always, geometry and paint are both fully customizable.
Next, we have the exquisite Toccata Superleggera, which is constructed with Columbus Spirit tubing.
Dániel says the Toccata is design for "those who stay in the saddle all-day-long, fluttering like a butterfly from one hairpin bend to another.”
The frame features a tapered 1 1/2in-1 1.8in headtube with a 56mm lower diameter and 46mm upper, joined to a 38mm diameter down tube and 31.7mm top tube. The seat tube is 28.6mm and takes a 27.2mm seat post.
Again, geometry is at the request of the client. However, Dániel says the frame will follow classic Italian geometry, with the exception of 5.5 degree sloping top tube. In addition, the Toccata will utilize Dániel’s own stainless steel dropouts, with Life tubing for the chainstays for their more aesthetically pleasing longer, tapered profile.
Dániel prefers Columbus’s high end Grammy as his carbon fork of choice.
Dániel distributes his framesets world-wide, which is great news for us "yanks" in the USA who are located "continents apart". Döbbenetes !!
