Six Days of Ghent 2014 Day 1

Following their performances last evening, Jasper De Buyst and Kenny De Ketele (Baloise Insurance) lead this year’s Six Days of Ghent – with 84 points.

Racing was briefly halted when a cat ran onto the  Kuipke velodrome during the SuperSprint. However, once racing resumed, Michael Vingerling emerged victorious with his 3M team ending the night in 11th place on 20 points

Meanwhile, Leif Lampater and Silvan Dillier finished second in the standings –  with 52 points, followed by the Danish duo of Alex Rasmussen and Marc Hester with 50 points.

The Omega Pharma-Quick Step’s Mark Cavendish and Iijo Keisse are currently in fourth place – with 28 points, after placing second in the Points Race, Team Elimination and the madison.

The madison winners, Glen O’Shea and Shane Archbold (Callant – Upgrade Estate), are one of three teams to be one lap down on the leaders, while four teams remain four laps behind.
