Women’s Team Time Trial Highlights – 2014 Road World Championships, Ponferrada, Spain
Specialized-Lululemon won the women’s team time trial for the third year in a row today, at the start of this years 2014 World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain.
Specialized-Lululemon completed the hilly 36.15-kilometer (22.46-mile) course starting and finishing in under 44 minutes.
Team member Evelyn Stevens of the United States says "I knew when we got to the start line that we were going to the win."
There’s nothing more special than getting to win together,” said Stevens, who has been part of the team’s winning sextet each year. “It gives me goose bumps. I said at breakfast this morning that it feels like Christmas – it’s such a special event and it’s the highlight of the year.”
Meanwhile, Orica- GreenEdge finished second, followed by Team Astana to round out the podium.
Rabo Liv was on pace for what would have been a second-place finish until three of their riders crashed. Anna Van der Breggen was taken away by ambulance.
