While the Effetto Mariposa Shelter Wheel Kit is not a new discovery, it’s one of those products that comes to mind whenever I’m mounting new tires and wish to rule-out potential wheel noise.
In years past, I would try to carefully wrap the valve stem each time I mounted a new pair of tubular tires as a means of ruling out vibration between the valve and rim.
As simple as it sounds, wrapping the valve with just the right amount of electrical tape without preventing it from properly fitting in the rim, was not always an easy task. And, it would often result in the unsightly appearance of tape protruding out of the top of the rim.
Along comes the Shelter Wheel kit, which uses simple, clear, pre-cut cisco-elastic washers that neatly fit over the valve and sure-up any space that might exist between the rim.
If this sounds too simple, it’s because it is. But, the results are spot on, remedying a noise problem in a simple and tasteful way.
In addition, the Shelter Wheel Kit can also be used to balance a stubborn tire issue as well, by applying counterbalance along the rim in areas that are negatively effecting proper run-out.
Anyone who has ever dealt with a sewn-up tire that isn’t perfectly round, or is prevented from properly seating on the rim because of a seam, know’s how frustrating this can be.
The Shelter Wheel Kit is the best few bucks a cyclist can spend!
