ENVE Introduces New Foundation Collection of Wheelsets

ENVE has introduced its latest range of road wheels called the Foundation Collection, offering enthusiasts disc brake performance and tubeless-ready technology at the affordable price point of $1,600.

“A more accessibly priced wheel collection has been on our project list for many years now” with that lower price being attainable partly as they’ve been able to “achieve greater manufacturing efficiencies,” says ENVE”s Jeremy Venz.

The new Foundation Collection comprises two models, the ENVE 45 and ENVE 65, which feature the Utah-based company’s Wide Hookless Bead technology that’s been optimized for 25mm tires thanks to the 21mm internal width. However, ENVE says the rim dimensions are wide enough to accommodate tires up to 28mm.

Additionally, the Foundation Collection also features ENVE’s molded-in spoke and valve stem hole design for optimal strength and durability, along with the company’s latest ID360 40t ratchet drive mechanism and maintenance-free automatic preload system, albeit with a simplified hub-shell. Moreover, the hubs get premium grade, fully sealed NTN steel bearings

Also, the hubs use a Center Lock mount for the rotor that’s compatible with Shimano, SRAM XDR, and Campagnolo free-hubs.

According to ENVE, the claimed weight of the 45mm and 65mm wheelsets are 1,541g and 1,621g respectively, which is not too far off from the brand’s more expensive options.

Like all ENVE wheelsets, the Foundation Collection comes with a five-year warranty against material and workmanship defects, along with a generous lifetime incident-protection program that’s available to the original owner in the event the wheels are damage while “riding, crashing, or transporting the bikes”.
