FFWD Expands TYRO Range of Wheelsets with Tubeless, Tubular and Rim Brake Options

FFWD has updated its TYRO range of wheelsets, offering hoops for adherents of the tubeless revolution, as well as sew-up and squeezer brake purists.

Featuring a 45mm rim profile throughout, the TYRO range comprises wheelsets for both disc and rim brake set-ups, and wait, the all-but extinct tubular, along with an improved internal ratchet system that’s found on FFWD’s premium models and revamped lacing courtesy of Sapim Sprint spokes and nipples.

Naturally, the new hubs come in both quick release and 12mm x 142mm thru-axle versions, with an optional 15mm conversion, while the tubeless-ready model comes supplied with rim tape and valves.

Additionally, the TYRO range gets an updated rim, which now features a 21mm inner rim width and a 29mm external width that can easily accommodate tires up to a beefy 44mm in width. Moreover, the clincher rim brake version receives an updated brake surface – complete with SwissStop BlackPrince pads.

The TYRO range of wheelsets sell for $1,232.00, which tip the scales at the following weights:

  • Disc Brake Clincher: 1675 grams per set
  • Rim Brake Clincher: 1640 grams per set
  • Rim Brake Tubular: 1510 grams per set
