Lazer’s “Bullet” Aero Road Helmet

We first came across the prototype version of Lazer’s Bullet helmet during the 2016 Eurobike show. Since then however, the Belgian brand has brought the helmet into full production, offering both a standard version, as well as a MIPS equipped model.

Similar to the prototype, the production Bullet features a sliding vent system that Lazer calls “Airslide”, which comprises a sliding, honeycomb-shaped cover on the front that spans across the middle-top of the helmet, allowing cyclists to boost airflow on-the-fly.

In addition, the Bullet also utilizes the company’s “Ventilation on Demand” (VOD) system, which relies on tilting slats that can be opened or closed using the “Airslide” system as well.

Other features that punctuate the Bullet, are Lazer’s newest RollSys retention system and their LifeBEAM technology, which incorporates a heart rate monitor that affixes to the inside of the helmet and places a sensor on the forehead of the rider.

The Bullet also features Lazer’s inclination sensor, which will emit an audible warning and vibrate if the rider’s head drops to a low position, along with an LED tail light that attaches to the rear of the helmet and the brand’s “Cappuccino Lock”.

The Bullet is available in four sizes (XS-L), along with four different colorways.

The Bullet helmet provides an answer to the age-old dilemma of ventilation versus aerodynamics. With its narrow shape and closed shell it is a seriously aerodynamic helmet but a quick adjustment to the Airslide system turns it into a helmet with sufficient ventilation to tackle climbs on hot days.

With four available sizes, the Bullet helmet will provide you with a snug fit and a helmet that is well fitting. This in turn creates a narrow shape with a small frontal area, creating the drop like shape of the helmet. In combination with the closed shell, this creates the aerodynamic performance to make the Bullet into a sprint helmet.

When ventilation is required, the Airslide system can be utilized to open up the front of the helmet and create an airflow throughout with exhaust vents at the rear. When ventilation is of lesser importance, the entire Airslide system can be exchanged for a fully closed cap, creating an even more aerodynamic version of the helmet.

On top of this performance the Bullet helmet also allows a quick and easy installation of the LifeBEAM technology to measure your heart rate, or the Inclination Sensor to monitor your head position on the bike.

Besides all these technological highlights, the Bullet helmet can also have a MIPS version where a low friction layer is added to the helmet to provide improved protection against rotational impacts.

Fast like a bullet, it’s the perfect combination of aerodynamics and ventilation, whenever you need it!
