While the Air Speed helmet has been spotted upon the crowns of Team Astana riders since the start of this season, it isn’t until now that Limar has officially offered the new aero lid to the rest of the cycling masses.
According to Limar, the new Air Speed carries forth all of the wind cheating capabilities as its popular Speed King model, but in a more streamline shape with better ventilation that features no fewer than 12 air vents and 3 longitudinal channeling ports.
Limar says, they spent considerable time developing the aerodynamic properties of the Air Speed at the ACE Wind Tunnel in Magny-Cours, France, where the helmet demonstrated performance levels previously achieved by only full-on time trial helmets at average speeds of 40 km/h (25mph).
The Air Speed features an in-mold polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner, the company’s Air Fit System adjustment system, ergonomic anti-bacterial replaceable pads, a buckle closure and it’s available in two sizes – Medium (53-57 cm / 19.7″-22.4″) and Large (57-61 cm / 22.4″-24″).
Additionally, the Air Speed will be available in a range of different colors including Team Astana, Direct Energie, Topeka Ergon and Canyon Topeak, with pricing for the U.S. market at $239 starting in June.
The Air Speed can be purchased from authorized Limar dealers, or directly from the U.S. importer Albabici.
