Mavic has introduced two new wheelsets called the Allroad Pro Carbon SL (700c) and SL+ (650b) aimed squarely at the gravel/roadplus segment.
“The new Allroad wheels, built to handle rough roads, pavé or gravel with speed, control and dynamic ride quality. This high-performance carbon wheel is made to help you crank up the speed while racing or riding your toughest gravel grinders or mixed terrain adventures.” says Mavic.
The Allroad Pro Carbon series are a continuation of Mavic’s cutting-edge technologies, blending the French brand’s proven expertise in building race-winning road rims and durable, smooth-riding MTB rims.
The superlight SL full carbon rims feature a 23mm inner rim width, while the SL+ rims have 26mm inner widths for roadplus 650b tires.
This in turn gives them a super-dynamic feel and smooth-rolling efficiency one expects from Mavic, along with the added puncture resistance of tubeless tires.
The SL wheels include 35mm Yksion Allroad tires, which offers a user-friendly integrated system. But, depending on the terrain, rider also chooses choose tires 28mm and 62mm.
The Allroad Pro Carbon+ “Road+” version features a 650b rim diameter with a 26mm inner rim width to fit tires ranging from 44 to 60mm. It’s a perfect choice for added confidence and control during the roughest of riding conditions, while still delivering speed and agility on smoother roads.
According to Mavic, both wheelsets are built up with lightweight double-butted steel spokes, giving them just enough vertical compliance to take the edge off of terrain, while 24 spokes front and rear optimize the distribution of braking forces, giving riders everything they need to tackle rough roads, gravel or dirt with maximum speed and control.
Additionally, the wheelsets are designed to climb with less effort, accelerate quicker and ride harder thanks to their superlight full carbon rims that have also been optimized for impact resistance. Moreover, the lightweight double-butted steel spokes keep weight low and maintain vertical compliance, while the hubs feature Mavic’s proven Instant Drive 360 freewheel system
