Princeton CarbonWorks Debuts New Dual 5550 Wheelset

Princeton CarbonWorks has debuted its latest wheelset called the Dual 5550, boasting enough strength to handle the rigors of Paris-Roubaix, while also providing enough aerodynamic gains to satisfy most rouleurs.

“The Dual 5550 ushers in a new era for Princeton CarbonWorks with a dedicated all-road wheelset designed around wider tires for life on and off pavement. The Dual 5550 was born when a better wheel was needed for Paris Roubaix 2021. The goal was to create a light and strong rim that was aerodynamically optimized around 30 to 32mm tires,” says the American brand.

The Dual 5550 features Princeton CarbonWorks’ signature hole-less tire bed for maximum stiffness, alongside a tubeless-ready hooked rim that has enough internal width (22mm) to accommodate tires ranging from 28mm to a whopping 50mm. Moreover, the wheelset can be had for either rim or disc brake formats.

Tipping the scales at an impressive 1,440g, the Dual 5550 is available with a number of hub choices from White Industries, Tune, Industry Nine, CarbonTi, Chris King, DT Swiss and Princeton CarbonWork’s own Tactic Racing, complete with Sapim CX-Ray spokes and Sapim SecureLock nipples.

“At Princeton CarbonWorks, uncompromising performance is a core design tenet, and the Dual 5550 is not only ready for toughest road and trail conditions but does so with a rim weight below 500g,” says Princeton CarbonWorks.

The Dual 5550 wheelset is available in matte black, matte white, gloss chrome and gloss gold finishes, along with two padded Princeton CarbonWorks wheel bags, tubeless valves, skewers and brake pads (for rim brake sets) starting at $3,000.
