My first experience with Edco came by way of a set of carbon wheels that were equipped on a Museeuw road bike – several years back.
After that, there was a long period of silence, before I began seeing their products appear more regularly on the American market.
In the meantime, memories of Edco’s attention to detail and silky smooth hubs remained indelible on my mind.
Oh, and the wheels were an elegant white and raw carbon finish – something I’ve never come across again.
Nowadays, Edco offers a wide-range of wheelsets, to include a recent foray into the tubeless wheel segment, with their new AeroSport Umbrial 45CTR and AeroSport Geserk 65CTR.
Both wheelsets are handbuilt in Edco’s Hertogenbosch facility in the Netherlands, using their proprietary 9K 8mm Twill Weave carbon, along with their 3K carbon rim bed and Integrated Low Temperature (ILT) brake track.
In addition, both models feature Edco’s V shaped rim profile, for what they say, “makes for excellent aerodynamics and straightline speed with unmatched stability in cross winds.”
However, as with any Edco wheel, the most impressive part often lies in the hubs. In this case, both wheelsets have the Swiss made Aperta hubs, which feature the brand’s light-action MultiSys freehub body for use with either Campagnolo, Shimano or SRAM cassettes.
Whether you’re an adherent to the tubeless wheel trend of not, there’s no denying the market’s determination to make them stick.
