The North Dakota-based company Galeo has launched a new theft prevention and recovery device that easily mounts to a bike’s water bottle cage or handlebar.
The device features a motion sensor, Bluetooth connectivity an audible alarm and a companion mobile app that alerts owners if their bike is moved, allowing them to track its location via an LTE and GPS module with a built-in SIM card.
The optional cellular service plan is activated through the app, available for Android or Apple, along with a rechargeable battery that offers several weeks of life on a single charge.
“We invented this tracker because 2,000,000 bikes are stolen every year in North America but only 5% are recovered,” said Jeff Johnson, President of The Galeo Group. “With the advent of new cellular technologies, we seized the opportunity to create a product with an affordable purchase and subscription price to protect any bike from loss or theft.”
